Page Layout

This project was part of our Page Layout course during the first semester of our first year. We spent the year working on this project in all of our courses. Each class helped create a part of the final product. We created websites for our global projects as well – Check mine out here. We were given a few requirements for the Bi Fold.

The project required us to research a topic of our choice. We were encouraged to pick something that we would not get tired of. Our Bi Fold had to have a info graphic that we created in our Vector Graphics class during the semester. It also had to have a few paragraphs on the subject we chose. We had more details that we could discuss and have on our websites as well.

Process

The theme I chose for this project was Cinema. This allowed me to use the knowledge I already have on film and dive a little deeper. I wanted to look into some of the most popular films and genres over the course of several years. The struggle for this project was being concise with my research. I found a lot of really interesting facts but only so much can fit comfortably on a Bi Fold.

Narrowing down my research helped me overcome the overwhelming amount of information I found on the subject. I kept the colours minimal, with just the posters of specific films in the inside pages. The idea was to have the poster feel like old school film. I created a vector design of a film reel that went across all the pages of my Bi Fold. This helped the viewers eye flow from page to page. The background images for the project are also photos of my own film collection from home. Giving the poster a human feel that made it more approachable.
