There is so much you can do with Shutter Speed!

Camera shutter speed is a great way to start learning photography. Cameras are powerful tools, they can help you create amazing and unique photos. You can capture a special moment or feeling without using Photoshop or other edits.

Shutter speed controls how long your camera shutter stays open. A slow shutter speed lets the camera capture movement over a longer period. This can create photos that show motion in a fun and creative way.

A fast shutter speed captures a quick moment with less movement. Playing with different shutter speeds can be a lot of fun.

A slow shutter speed can also work well at night. The longer the shutter stays open, the more light the camera can capture. However, using a slow shutter speed during the day can make your photos too bright. This is called overexposure.

The best part is that you can choose your focus

Shutter speed can also change how movement looks around your subject. You can focus on one subject while movement around it becomes blurry. The amount of blur depends on how long the shutter stays open.

When using a slow shutter speed, it is best to place your camera on a flat surface or use a tripod. Holding the camera by hand can cause camera shake. Even the steadiest hands can move a little. A very slow shutter speed that last for several minutes can make moving objects disappear from a photo.

For example, imagine taking a photo in a crowded space. If people keep moving while the shutter is open, their movement can become a soft blur. With a long enough shutter speed, the people will disappear from the final photo. This can create a very interesting and eerie effect.

    Experiment and Have Fun!

Trying different camera settings is one of the best ways to learn. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes or take bad photos. That is all part of the process.

The best photos are almost never the first ones you take. Trial and error can help you find new ways to take photos. It can also help you capture moments that you love.

What kinds of photos do you love to take? Let me know here!

    Capture The Moment

Photography is one of the most versatile skills to learn in terms of applications to different job types. It’s a great hobby to have, for one it’s just an enjoyable activity but it can also translate to work. Being adept at photography is definitely an advantage in graphic design. For both web and print it’s important to have an eye for photography. It helps you as a designer to pick appropriate photos – even if they aren’t your own – for different projects.

I started learning photography skills in high school, my school offered it as an elective for senior year students. Photography has always been an interest of mine, Taking photos on my phone was fun for me. Learning how to work a camera even just on a basic level in terms of how it functions. Helped me take the photos I wanted and create something new with them by blending them together in Photoshop. It is a great skill to have, specifically for graphic design you can really capture your ideas.

    Cameras are great for experimentation

there are so many different ways to use them to create different effects without using Photoshop. For example playing with the shutter speed, aperture and ISO will give you very different outcomes even of the same subject. Taking photos in different environments and different times of day will drastically change the outcome as well.

You can capture motion in a very fun way with cameras as well and this will also change the look if you take them in the morning or at night. These are just some examples of how cool and fun photography can be and how it’s a very great skill to have. The cool thing about cameras is that depending on the type of camera you use the outcomes will also be different. You can use digital cameras or film cameras. The process is very different and the overall feel of the photos will change just because one is digital and the other is film. Film photos can often come out looking very human and tactile.

Photography skills can be used professionally or on a personal level as a hobby!

It is definitely one of the few artistic skills that I truly believe anyone can learn and enjoy. Being familiar with how cameras work, how ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed will affect an image. Will help you use the camera on your phone to the best of its ability.

The cameras on smartphones are advanced these days. Some even have the capability to take Camera RAW photos. Which can be edited nicely in Photoshop if you choose to do that. You don’t even need a fancy camera to practice photography these days. Changing the settings on your smartphone’s camera like you would on an actual camera can give you all the power you need. Allowing you to take beautiful photos of you and your loved ones. These skills can be an asset in many fields but it can also just make your memories that much more beautiful!
